When a German tuner comes along and claims to have modified a great German car so extensively it can actually be renamed you know you’re in for a bit of a treat.
That’s exactly the idea of the Lorinser S70. This super saloon once started out as a Mercedes S600 limousine and was then taken up beyond 11.
That glorious 6.0 V12 Bi-Turbo engine was tweaked a bit. The modifications here are surprisingly few yet the changes are massive.
Thanks to a set of new camshafts, larger turbochargers, a revised ECU and a sports exhaust system, the V12 now chucks out 805 horsepower and 936 lb-ft of torque.
That should be plenty. Even in a car that weighs as much as a light tank, it will still push it to 62 in under 50 seconds and hit a top speed of 205 mph.
In order to handle such speeds, Lorinser’s S70 is fitted with a pretty impressive set of 20 inch alloy wheels and the tires are now Yokohama Advan Sport.
Aerodynamically, the whole of the body kit has been reworked. There’s new bumpers and skirts, added vents and even a couple of subtle spoilers.
The exterior of the Lorinser S70 is a tad too bling for my taste but then again, the S Class isn’t a car meant to be discrete, why should this version be any different?
Lorinser Tuning have also upgraded (incredibly) the interior of the Mercedes S600 by use of a warmer color scheme, some of the finest materials currently available and some piano black wood for maximum effect.
