It’s really not difficult, the 63 AMG part really gives it away. We’re looking at a Vath tuned Mercedes C63 AMG. Except there’s more.
Vath have actually taken a stab at upgrading the Mercedes C63 AMG’s Black Series version of the small sporty coupe. In other words, they’ve gone for the top end version.
As one of the last cars to ever receive Mercedes 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 engines the C63 AMG couldn’t have had an engine swap or turbocharger setup.
The beauty of that engine’s linear power delivery couldn’t have been corrupted the slightest bit by any sort of turbo lag. It’s charm could also not be replicated by any other powerplant.
That’s why Vath Tuning ended up fitting a supercharger on top of the original V8 engine in order to seriously boost the power.
Thanks to that setup, a new ECU and improved cooling the Vath V63 AMG develops 756 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.
Then the German tuner fits a completely new suspension with a 20–65 mm lowering, adjustable everything, bigger brakes and considerably larger wheels with sporty tires.
Doesn’t that just sound great? I’m completely fascinated by the hardness adjustment on the suspension. How much harder can an AMG Black Series suspension get?
I think Vath have simply painted the exterior of the Black Series red and added a few glitzy details just to distract us from the fact that they’ve removed the damn thing altogether.
I suppose more people will be bothered by the new performance specs: 0 to 62 happens in 3.6 seconds and the top speed figure reaches 218 mph.
