Only recently did we hear about the Chinese buying a massive stake in the well known German tuner that is Carlsson and we’ve even taken notice of their promise.
They said that the new production facilities would be created in the People’s Republic, just like a new dealer and that none of the businessmen would be messing around with the product.
Carlsson would go on to make their infamous tuned Mercedes models the way they wanted them and that no questions would be asked.
With this new product however a few doubts come about as this is a special edition product that’s limited to go on sale on the Chinese market.
That could be just a coincidence, but it could lead to some of the most dramatic conspiracy theories ever to hit the tuning or automotive world.
The Carrlsson C25 Super-GT, as the new model is called, is originally based on the Mercedes SL which receives some serious modifications.
A full new body kit is fitted and it even includes swapped out lighting fixtures. That’s quite rare, but not as rare as what’s going on under the bonnet.
Instead of a familiar powerplant fitted to the SL, regarded of it being the turbocharged V8, V12 or the naturally aspirated V8, it’s unknown.
We’re not joking, it is rated at 450 horsepower and simply called a Carlsson V8. I know I’m not happy with this vehicle being a limited edition that’s not available to us, I’m about to change my mind.
Mostly because the Carlsson C25 Super-Gt has a whiff of “made in China” about it. In the bad way.
