Mercedes is one of the most reputable German car makers that has fallen back a bit. It’s coming back for a couple of years now but overall, they’re the bronze medalist.
Even in such conditions, there’s a lot of hate and lack of understanding towards some of the company’s products which are deemed simply offensive and childishly outrageous.
We’re always going to be looking at the large coupes such as the CL, but remarkably, the Mercedes G55 AMG is one of the most hated of their models.
Mastermind Japan have had a go at tweaking it, directly at the Mercedes factory and they’ve made it more discrete but somehow, it probably won’t help the image.
First of all, Mastermind Japan isn’t exactly a renown, they’re actually a fashion company, one that specializes in modern menswear.
Second of all, even at that, they’re not exactly popular apart from the skull and bones logo that’s their emblem.
Thirdly, the world of fashion is rarely one that’s genuinely appreciated for being anything other than in your face. Anyway, the custom G55 AMG will likely get some support at its unveiling.
That’s because the Germans are introducing it at the Tokyo Fashion Week. With that sort of background, the G55 AMG will feel like a blue turtle neck jumper.
At that sort of event the off-roader will almost certainly go unnoticed the minute the introduction ceremony will be over.
Which just as well since if they wanted it to stand out there they probably wouldn’t have painted the car in Obsidian Black with an equally dark interior.
