Carlsson Mercedes ML CD35

You can boast a German standard of efficiency for a new car, or you could double that and use a German new car that’s been tweaked by a German tuner.

Case in point, the newest generation of the Mercedes ML and the guys over at Carlsson. Their new creation is the Carlsson ML CD35.

The W166 Mercedes M-Class isn’t exactly a hen cottage to begin with so the refinement process the new aerodynamic body, continue with the interior and finish up with the performance.

Mind you, when I say performance I’m actually kidding myself because the base car is a ML 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC. That’s right folks, it’s the 3.0 liter V6 diesel one.

Power goes from 258 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque to 310 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Carlsson also fits a C-Tronic suspension system in to help with the cornering aspect of the affair.

The newly sculpted aerodynamic package is pretty good looking but design isn’t what it’s all about. Carlsson actually spent a good amount of time refining the airflow around the Mercedes ML.

The exterior of the Carlsson Mercedes ML still gets LED daytime running lights and 22 inch light alloy wheels to suit.

Finally, we get to the interior. Everything here has been refined but not everything that was ever changed is easy to spot.

At this point Carlsson reminds you about the illuminated door sill panels, the aluminium pedals, oh yeah, and the wide array of badges from the tuner.

I’m not a fan of the ML, or any car in its class but there’s a great amount of respect to have for the Carlsson ML CD35.
