I’m sure when Toyota and Subaru decided to come up with the GT86/BRZ sports car they didn’t think people would start tuning it up.
Yep, I’m pretty sure they didn’t consider that. Regardless, the guys over at Tunehouse seem to be swimming against the current and are announcing a package for the Subaru BRZ.
Styling changes are minimal from what this early image shows us but boy do they have a plan for what’s going on underneath that body.
The orange paint, the black roof, new, 18 inch Advan alloy wheels and the very small rear wing is where we stand on the styling so far and it’s getting no complaints from us.
The old 2.0 liter boxer powering it is gone. In its place we find a 2.6 liter crate engine that was developed by Cosworth and a few other new things as well.
A HKS turbocharger setup gets things going, a front-mounted intercooler helps it along and then there’s an EcuTek ECU and a billet flywheel.
The new setup is expected to put no less than 330 horsepower under the bonnet of the Subaru BRZ. Estimates rate it even higher than that.
Tunehouse also plan to make sure that power is kept well in check. The handling front kicks off with a bang as a KW coil-over suspension, limited-slip differential and Whiteline anti-roll bars are fitted.
Finally, the brakes are also from Cosworth and the tires come from Federal RSR tires. The rest of the details will turn up later as the car is actually developed.
