There’s not that big a market for RS versions of the luxury barges we all know and business men love but it seems like Hofele Tuning has a different take on the idea.
They’ve decided to take over the creation of the RS8 from the Ingolstadt manufacturer and they’ve done a… less than perfect job.
I won’t say it’s bad, but it’s not exactly what one would expect when seeing the RS8 badge. It makes a bit of a point for itself but it’s not really enough.
First of all, it’s not a high performance tune-up of the petrol powered A8, it’s actually a kit for either that one or the diesel powered V8.
With the 4.2 liter V8 FSI you now get 390 horsepower instead of 372 and 4.2 liter TDI V8 goes from 350 to 390 but also produces 664 lb-ft of torque.
Happily, the exterior of the Hofele Tuning Audi RS8 is pretty much untouched and the only change there is the new set of multi-spoke alloys with sizes ranging between 20 and 22 inches.
Also, quite the pleasant design idea is to be spotted in the new 40 mm drop the standard air suspension Audi fits on the A8.
Interestingly, in order not to kill the full comfort details, the drop is “cancelled out” once the Hofele Audi RS8 goes over 43 mph.
The interior is where the Hofele RS8 really shines as it gets no actual changes in the equipment or design but you do get upgraded materials.
Those already special materials, fabrics and leather fittings are swapped out for even higher grade ones.
