I have a feeling that after seeing most of what tuning companies have been doing lately to the McLaren MP4-12C things will change.
No longer will we hear about the restrained styling, no longer will hear about the excitement missing from the design or anything like that.
Not after more people take a look at the Hamann memoR. Not only does it have a Dance Club/Web 2.0/Gamer name, it’s also a very “loud” version of the British supercar.
I felt it needed to be said because from some angles people out there might not recognize the car lying underneath all that “upgraded” body work.
Setting out with a rather unclear goal (a more aggressive look), Hamann have utterly ruined the look of the McLaren MP4-12C.
Sure, it was understated but you could at least take some comfort in its functional layout.
Now it simply looks like a guy playing NFS got to the level where they unlock some hideous widebody kit and fitted whichever was handier in order to gain some extra “stars” for style.
The front is nearly acceptable but the roof scoop, the multitude of side vents and the oversized rear wing have nothing to do with a good looking car.
All of these problems make you walk away before you manage to get a second look at those completely inappropriate wheels.
Hey, at least they kept the paint job nice and simple. From the top at least the Hamann memoR looks decent when you’re not looking directly at it.
