Since then that reputation has gone downhill and seems to be making a comeback but that’s not the true story. The W124 Mercedes has something even more special.

It’s one of the E500 models that have been specially developed for a sporty feel together with a little company called Porsche.
It is powered by a 5.0 liter V8 engine which develops 326 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. That was enough to propel the tank of a sedan to 62 in just 5.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 162 mph.
So you’d think that was enough but it is only here that the Mercedes E500 gets into the hands of the German tuner Brabus and becomes even more amazing.

They mess around with that engine until its capacity is bumped up to 6.5 liters and the performance levels speak of a 450 horsepower.
With that update 0 to 62 happens in just 5.2 seconds and the top speed climbs to 177 mph. As if that deal wasn’t sweet enough, this W124 only traveled 157 mph.
If you’re an adept of the old school ride and still want the sort of performance that keeps up with most vehicles today, the Brabus Mercedes E500 is the car for you.

The only genuine trouble is that Brabus won’t say how much they ask for this gem of a car.
Since their one off cars are extremely expensive I’m simply terrified at the prospect of this sort of price.
